We all know how important a healthy childhood is to a child’s development and future success. Florida acknowledges that importance through Florida KidCare, our state’s health insurance program for children. However, not all of Florida’s children are eligible. Legally residing immigrant children are forced to wait 5 years before becoming eligible for Florida KidCare. These kids are 10 times more likely to have unmet medical needs, 5 times more likely to go two or more years without seeing a doctor, and 25% more likely to be absent from school. This has to change, but it won’t without your help.

Join KidsWell Florida in supporting Florida House Bill 7  during Florida’s 2014 legislative session!

‪Legally residing immigrant children deserve the same chance at a healthy and productive start available to all other children living in Florida. They shouldn’t have to go years without seeing their doctor or pediatrician, and they shouldn’t lack access to the prescription medicines they need to stay healthy.

‪Send a powerful message to your legislators BEFORE they vote at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, February 11th. Ask them to do the right thing by all of Florida’s children and eliminate the 5 year ban. Florida’s kids are counting on all of us to speak up for them!
