Tell Congress: Support the Children’s Health Insurance Program

Dear Supporter,

In 1997, with strong bipartisan support in Congress, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) was created. CHIP gives states financial support to expand publicly funded health coverage to uninsured children who are not eligible for Medicaid. In Florida, you might recognize our CHIP program, together with Medicaid for children, as Florida KidCare. Thanks to CHIP, an additional 473,415 of Florida’s children had health coverage in 2013.

Although the law was renewed in 2009, funding for the program past September 2015 requires reauthorization by Congress. The great progress we’ve made in reducing the number of uninsured is now in jeopardy. Congress must act to continue funding CHIP before this happens.

Help KidsWell Florida ensure that this lifesaving program is around for generations to come. Sign the petition.

CHIP has always enjoyed strong bipartisan support. Its track record of successfully providing coverage is undeniable. Now, about 8 million children with low to moderate incomes are covered by CHIP.

Undoing this incredible feat would be a travesty. Don’t let that happen. Sign the petition.

Children are the world’s greatest resource and ensuring their healthy futures is the only way to ensure our society’s future. Uninsured children are less likely to see a doctor and far more likely to have unmet medical needs. Setbacks which don’t allow for kids to reach their full potential during these crucial years of development.

Many children would be left with no affordable options without CHIP. Marketplace coverage might be available for some children, but it will not be available for all.

Tell your lawmakers to do the right thing for millions of children and continue funding CHIP. Sign the petition.

On behalf of the kids who might never hear your name or know what impact you just had on their lives…THANK YOU!
