KidsWell Florida is a collaborative of many stakeholder groups who share a common vision: making sure children have affordable, quality health care coverage. It is a three-year project funded by The Atlantic Philanthropies and carried out by a team of key leaders from five statewide advocacy groups: Florida CHAIN, The Children’s Movement of Florida, the Florida Center for Fiscal and Economic Policy, The Children’s Trust of Miami-Dade, and Florida Children’s Healthcare Coalition.

The purpose of KidsWell Florida is to develop and promote policy changes that will reduce the number of uninsured children in our state. We will make this happen by drawing from federal health care reforms, the private insurance industry and KidCare, Florida’s subsidized or low cost insurance program for children.

In Year One, our goals are to develop an executive committee of statewide leaders who can help us promote administrative and policy changes to the public and lawmakers through grassroots engagement and the voices of Florida families.

What sets KidsWell Florida apart is that our staff has the resources to engage families through community organizing and storytelling, organize and engage active players in the children’s health care arena; and to successfully execute a broad public awareness and policy campaign.

This project builds upon, but does not replace, the work of many child advocates over the years. Our goal is to unite groups, harness our unique resources and move all of us forward with a common agenda: insuring all of Florida’s children.
